After the female lays the egg, the male takes care of it until it hatches. The egg is hidden under a fold of skin on the male’s belly so it does not freeze. During the 60 days of incubation, the male eats nothing. The female, however, migrates to the sea to feed. Once the baby hatches, the female return from the sea and relieves the male to take care of the baby herself.
