CollectA Megamouth Shark

SKU: CO80046
£0.00

The Oceans & Ice line is enlarged by the Megamouth Shark (Megachasma pelagios). It is one of the rarest and most mysterious shark species in the world. The Megamouth Shark was first discovered in 1976. Since then, only a few hundred specimens have been documented. It is a large, soft-bodied shark with a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from most other species. It typically measures between 4 to 5 meters in length, though some individuals can grow up to 7 meters, and it can weigh as much as 1,200 kilograms. Its most notable feature is its massive, bulbous head and an extremely wide mouth, which contains numerous small, hooked teeth arranged in rows. The shark’s body has a flabby texture and is dark brown to greyish-black on the back, with a lighter, contrasting underside. Its dorsal fins are relatively small and rounded, appearing undersized compared to its large body. This unique combination of features gives the megamouth shark a distinctive, almost prehistoric look.
